Etihad Airways delays Dreamliner EIS; Cabin Crew undergo Training at Savoy Hotel

Etihad Airways has officially delayed the Entry into Service for their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, because of the latest GDS, and the OAG schedules; The Dreamliner will instead enter service on December 27, the same day as company A380 service; which will remained the same. The first flight is to Dusseldorf Airport in Dusseldorf, Germany followed by service to Doha, Qatar; these are both training flights.

Both Etihad Airways and The Savoy Hotel have personally hand pick 13 employees to undergo a special tailored  training in London. The lucky well trained 13 butlers, are all current employees of Etihad. Some work as in-flight chefs and the food & beverage managers on board Etihad Airways long-haul service, were given special training at the London School of Hospitality and Tourism at the University of West London.Their on-the-job training was completed at the Savoy Hotel.

The Lucky 13 will become the first set of trained butlers in the sky’s on board the A380 Abu Dhabi – London service in The Residences starting this December 27. Aubrey Tiedt, Etihad Airways Vice President of Guest Services said:

The team will be trained by Savoy Hotel’s head butler; using a series of skills and techniques to help boost cabin crews current level of customer service experience; classes are focused on etiquette and protocol, valet skills and concierge services. Sean Davoren, Head Butler says:


“They all now possess the skills required to provide the highest standard of hospitality for the airline’s premium customers, by blending the discretion of a traditional English butler with the efficiency of a 21st century personal assistant.”
