Breaking Down the 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO

SMADE NEW YORK | Say hello to Nissan latest monster the 2015 GT-R NISMO aka Godzilla NISMO.  The GT-R has long been on my favorites list, and with the addition of the NISMO model, this car just jump to the top of my list and i can speak for many enthusiast out there that feels the same too. Nissan is definitely putting the NISMO name to used. This isn’t your average Godzilla,This is Godzilla NISMO, wearing Nissan latest VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine that racks up 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. That is a total of 55 more horsepower and 18 lb-ft of torque; than on other GT-R models. Although mounted to a platform that is Rear-drive bias,the  NISMO can transfer up to 50 percent of torque to the front wheels when needed, torque split continuously variable depending on speed, lateral and transverse acceleration, steering angles, tire slip, road surface and yaw rate; making it one of the smartest performance rides on the road.

$99 TO FLY TO EUROPE! SAY WOW!

SMADE WASHINGTON DC | Yup you’re seeing right and it’s not just an illusion. WOW Air a low-cost carrier base in Iceland is launching $99 promotion fares from Boston-Logan International Airport to Europe. WOW founded in 2011 and begun operating 2012. WOW currently operates 3 single class configured A320 aircraft with 180 seats. The airline is base at Keflavík International Airport in Reykjavik, Iceland and operates to 15 European destination and set to launch flights to U.S Cities such as Boston and Washington D.C. Service to Boston-Logan is set to begin March 2015 followed by Washington D.C – Baltimore–Washington International Airport in June 2015.

For their service to the United States; WOW air is launching special promotion that will get you into Europe from Boston and Washington connecting through the airlines hub at Keflavik International Airport. However these fare was quickly sold-out. As of 3:00am this morning(Qct. 25 2014) WOW listed price for a trip to London from Boston will cost you $273 one way. Washington D.C to London $195 one way; $506 Round-trip + $67 per check bag and $3 to $24 per seats + $38 for any carry on luggage that exceed 12kg – These fare are for September 7 – September 9 2015. My final total for my Round Trip from Washington D.C to London $667 that $161 worth of Extra. That is before we get to the airport.

WOW introductory fares are too help promote its new routes. As of 9:30 pm ET on Wednesday (Oct. 22 2014), WOW was offering flights to Copenhagen and London for $228 round trip (including taxes). It was the lowest price flight between destination.  Make sure you check each day for a good fare that your willing to pay. WOW Air doesn’t plan on making these low fares available every day. The airline said it plans to operate these route seasonally.

Wow air is the latest low-cost carrier operating between Europe and the USA! With Norwegian Long Haul 787 Dreamliner service between the USA and Europe including routes between New York-JFK and London-Gatwick, offering a direct flight on a newer state of the art commercial airliner and similar pricing. We wonder how will WOW stack up once it promo fare starts to not be so promo. Transatlantic Low cost low haul service is becoming a thing. With WestJet looking to enter this market between Canada and Europe using Boeing 767-300ER wide-body and Ryan Air looking to jump in the pot of low-cost long haul transatlantic flight. Will this make it easier for passengers to get long haul service at a decent price. How will big carriers like United British Airways and Delta take these low-cost carriers. Lufthansa is also looking to join in on the fun.

I compare United Airlines and Wow air for travel between Washington D.C and London. United cost me $1600 and yes Economy Class; Even thought United is getting me there quicker, with a meal and a straight flight. In the end what matters to you? comfort, hassle free, fastest, cheapest? yes you obviously pay less on WOW, but how do I  know what else they will charge me once i reach the airport.  Regardless where your traveling too if you don’t care which airline you fly with; always do your full research because less some can sometimes mean more.

Airbus A350 XWB program hits major milestone, Thanks to EASA

BRONX | NEW YORK | October 1st

Airbus hit a major milestone with the A350 program, yesterday (September 30th) the A350 receive its Type Certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The type powered by Rolls Royce Trent XWB engine. The certificate was signed by EASA Executive Director and handed over to Airbus Executive Vice President Engineering,Charles Champion and the A350 Cheif Engineer, Gordon McConnell, which complete this significant milestone.

Airbus President and CEO, Fabrice Brégier, spoke about its milestone.

“Receiving the A350-900 Type Certification from EASA is a great achievement for Airbus and for all our partners who have contributed to designing, building and certificating this fantastic, new generation aircraft. The A350-900 is now ready to fly from the nest and be enjoyed by airlines and passengers,”. “The A350 XWB embodies many extra innovative technologies which make all the difference in passenger comfort and airline efficiency.”

“The A350 XWB manufacturing programme has also been innovative and ambitious, aiming for a fully mature aircraft at entry into service and this is what we are proud to be delivering to our first A350 XWB customer, Qatar Airways, before the end of the year. Our fleet of five test aircraft completed the certification campaign, on time, cost and quality. Accumulating more than 2,600 flight test hours, we created and successfully achieved one of the industry’s most thorough and efficient test programmes ever developed for a jetliner,”

The Airbus A350 XWB Family, is a medium to long range wide body airline set to compete with the Boeing 787-9 (dash)10 and The upcoming Boeing 777X. Airbus A350 XWB, is set to be at least 6% more fuel efficient, than current generation Boeing 777, it’s lighter, with its wider cabin, it has the ability to use 9-breast seating arrangement comfortable, using 18inch seatings.

Qatar Airways is the launching carrier of Airbus new Wide-Body jet, who has 70 frames on order. Other airlines like Etihad, Air France-KLM, Japan Airlines, Ibera (IAG), all have orders for the new passenger jet. The A350 has more than 750 orders from 39 operators worldwide. First delivery to Qatar is set for November 2014, while first passenger flight schedule for December 2014.

Airbus said FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certificates for the A350 program will follow soon, currently American Airlines and United Airlines has place order for this type.

Etihad unveils new Geometric Pattern corporate livery and flagship Airbus A380

HUMBURG | GERMANY | SAT, September 27 | by O’Keeve Foster (SMWA) Today Etihad unveiled their brand new much anticipated livery on their brand new Airbus A380. It seems like September has been the month for new livery unveiling and so far we haven’t been disappointed. Southwest Airlines started off the month with their new modern blue “One Heart” livery followed by Frontier Airways throwback yet modern livery and the boldest yet so far Spirit Airlines “Bare Fare” livery, followed by China Eastern Airlines livery, well some of you guys maybe disappointed with this one, but the old one needed too go. Well for who was disappointed, am sure Etihad today has rebound your livery hearts.

At the Airbus hanger in Humburg, Germany, Etihad Airways rolled out their brand new Airbus A380 painted in their brand new corporate livery, a livery that’s more modern, it like more of a modern art painting, more luxurious and bring it on par with its two biggest competitor Emirates and OneWorld carrier Qatar Airways. The new livery is known as “Facets of Abu Dhabi” is a tribute to the airline hometown of Abu Dhabi. The Boeing 787 and Airbus A380 will be two of the first aircrafts to wear this new art work coat of paint.

The Airbus A380 is covered in 4 layers of paint, that’s 600 kilograms of paint, that’s thinner than a human hair all together. The livery isn’t a complete departure from the old one, it still features the browns fuselage paint with a billboard style Etihad written on the fuselage. What you will find different however is the tail, the “Abu Dhabi Emblem” logo has move up next to the word “Etihad” similar to British Airways coat of arm, first appeared on their A380. The tail is now covered in what Etihad calls “Geometric patterns” of triangles and squares. By 2018 the entire Etihad fleet will be wearing the new livery.

Although beautiful Etihad wants you inside to see the real beauty: The A380 is Etihad new flagship aircraft sorry 777, with flagship status comes flagship products, Etihad A380 features: The Resident and First Apartment, two very revolutionary products for air travel, and very expensive. The Resident is around 125sqft, both First Apartment and The Resident are you private flying houses. For the other half you have Business Studio and Economy Smarts.

China Eastern Airlines Celebrate First Boeing 777 and The Beginning of A New Chapter!

CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES BOEING 777-300ER DELIVERIES CELEBRATION


Today mark two milestone for China Eastern Airlines. The first milestone: The airline took delivery of its very first Boeing 777-300ER at the Boeing factory in Seattle,  Washington.  The airline was greeted to a beautiful welcoming party, celebrating, China Eastern first of 20 brand new Boeing 777-300ER. The airline will take until the year 2018, years down the road. Boeing rolled the red carpet to the stairs of the new long haul jet, as they get ready to hand over the keys to China Eastern pilots. 

The captain and the first officer step a board the brand new aircraft with that beautiful smell, a quick walk up and down the cabin of the Triple Seven. Then straight to the flight deck they go, waving to the employees of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, started the number one engine followed by the number two, and taxi out to the runway, as they continue to wave. As the Triple Seven Lineup for takeoff one more wave was made. The 777-300ER fly down the runway and off it went to China to start a new life with China Eastern Airlines.

For many that doesn’t know,  the Boeing 777-300ER is a twin engine long range aircraft capable of flying more than 300 passengers to over 7000 nautical miles. The 777 family is also the most successful twin engine long range aircraft ever made, along with the 200LR and 300ER, these big birds mostly act as the back bone of many airlines long haul service, because of it efficiency and its range.


 

CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES BOEING 777-300ER EXTERIOR AND LOGO


China Eastern Airlines currently operates 39 wide-body aircrafts, with a mixture of Airbus A330-200/300 and Airbus A340-600 these aircraft are responsible for carrying China Eastern travelers not only safely but efficiently on Domestic and International destinations. However the Airbus 340-600 isn’t capable of flying long haul mission efficiently as the Boeing 777-300ER, therefore are being retired and replace by Boeing 777-300ER. A move many airlines are turning too. China Eastern configure its Airbus A340-600 in a 322 seating arrangementm with a 8-42-272 seating layout spreading across the cabin in 3 class. China Eastern will configure the Boeing 777-300ER with 316 seats arrange in 6-52-258 seating in the same 3 class.

Chairman of China Eastern Airlines, Liu Shaoyong spoke about it’s new flagship Boing 777-300ER.

China Eastern Airlines, a Skyteam member will be operating its new 777-300ER aircraft between China and North America, as the airline looks to boost its trans-Pacific products. The airline plas to make North America a major market for the airline. China Eastern is also will also add frequency to major cities the airline already servers from Shanghai, China to major cities in North America, such as New York, Vancover, San Francisco and Los Angeles, the reason for extra Business Class seats on board the Triple Seven(777) aircraft. However China Eastern Airlines will deploy its new 777 on routes to New York-JFK and Los Angeles-LAX.

The second major milestone for the airline: The Boeing 777-300ER will be debuting China Eastern new livery and new logo. The new logo and livery is the very first for the airline in over 25 years. The new logo featured a more modern look to its current logo. The C and E lettering are emphasize in the logo. The logo is now red and blue, the airline new colors. The new livery, which many calls the most boring livery ever, features a Euro-White fuselage with blue outlining of the doors and emergency exit. The airline name is written in both Chinese and English. Chinese appears in Red, while English appears in Blue.

CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES BOEING 777-300ER INTERIOR


China Eastern Airlines configured its new Boeing 777-300ER in a 3 Class layout with 316 total seats. First Class has six suites seats arraged in a 1-1-1 layout. Business seats has 52 total seats, that’s 10 more Business seats offering on Trans-Pacific flights on board Eastern new 777-300ER. China Eastern Business Class Cabin is configured 1-2-1 layout while economy has 258 seats arranged in a 3-4-3 seating layout. China Eastern Economy Class on board their A340-600 are arranged 2-4-2. Eastern dedicate the more space offering on the 777-300ER to Business travelers. The SkyTeam carrier currently has 20 Boeing 777-300ER on order, the first of those 20 was delivered today(September 24,2014). These aircraft will be replacing China Eastern Airlines current fleet of Airbus A340-600 on Trans-Pacific flights.

FIRST CLASS

The Six First Class suites features new lighting system, A 180 degrees fully lie-flat bed seating. Since First Class is configured in a 1-1-1 seating layout arrangement, Travelers will always have privacy and always have access to aisle for quick access in and out of their suites.  Travelers in first Class will also love their personal 16-20 inch in-Flight Entertainment touch screen, with seat mounted controls along with an extra wide table for working during long flights, for meal service, so you can enjoy your meal with more personal space and or your personal entertainment devices. Once ready to sleep or for privacy purposes close your curtains extend your 180 degree fully flat bed, then kickback and relax.

BUSINESS CLASS

Travelers traveling in Business Class, once arrived on board China Eastern Airlines 777, you will be greeted with a beautiful cabin, mood lighting to get you into the traveling mood, once arrived at your seats you will be greeted with side table lamps, adding that little touch of luxury to Business Class.  Business Class will accommodate a total of 52 travelers, seats are arrange in a 1-2-1 layout,  given travelers easy access to aisle, making it quick and easy for travelers to get in and out of their seats with out disturbance to others travelers. This layout also gives a little bit of privacy to Business Travelers, with the increased seats in Business Class you can bet that most travelers will love this.

China Eastern added an extra 10 seats to Business Class on board the 777-300ER, that’s 52 total seats that’s 10 more on what the airline currently offer today on flights to North American cities on the company Airbus A340-600 aircraft. China Eastern made the move to use the extra space on the Bieing 777 to focus more to Business Class travelers and also decreased the number of seats available in Economy. With the increase in frequency to New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, The airline figured that less is more, with efficiency of the Boeing 777 and the added frequency, the airline figured that 316 seats are perfect. The Triple Seven first route is New York we will see how it does to and from the world financial capital.

ECONOMY CLASS

China Eastern travelers traveling on board the new Triple  Seven Economy Class, will feel a lot different then they did when they was flying aboard the company Airbus A340-600,  that’s because the seating arrangements are now 3-4-3  layout as compared to the A340-600s 2-4-2 layout, although travelers may feel a little cramp, because of the feeling of being bundle up/ stacked together, however what they will soon realized is that they are actually less travelers, traveling in Economy than before. China Eastern 777 Economy Class can accommodate 258 travelers that is 14 less seats, down from today’s A340-600 272 economy seatings service to North America.


 

MY TAKE ON CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES LIVERY AND EXPERIENING MEAL ON BOARD THE NEW 777-300ER


Today many carriers doesn’t even think about offering passengers any real service meal, what they now look forward too is offering chips, water and soda at the rate of a half-a-chicken with fried rice at any New York (Manhattan) Chinese Food restaurants. Which isn’t fair to travelers, travling with young children’s. So if you every plan to travel with a children or young teens, remember to pack a bag of snacks.

Many airline however does offer good meal service on board flagship aircrafts and very important destinations. Take Emirates, Etihad and Delta for instance all 3 offers some of the best meal on board international First and Business Class, however Economy does often get left out of the great meals. So what should travelers expect when flying on board China Eastern Triple Seven?

WHAT TO EXPECT ON BOARD CHINA EASTERN TRIPPLE SEVEN 

Travelers traveling to any destination,  whether to New York or Vancover as long as your on China Eastern Airlines. What you should come to expect is a great meal service from the SkyTeam Airline, to go alone with brand new flagship signature products.

When you’re in First Class, no matter how you whine up their, whether bum up, are you pay your heard earn $8,000+ ticket, you should expect an experience of a 8 star restaurant especially on flight over 10 hours long to China or North America. Why we say this? simple the reason they are more Business Class seats and less Economy is because North America is become one of China Eastern Airlines major destination,  especially to New York,  Los Angeles and San Francisco. MY TAKE ON THE NEW LIVERY

As many may think and speak negatively of the new logo and livery. The reason for that is simply because, China Eastern long 25 year old livery was one of the greatest airline liveries every created, it was what airplane liveries are ment be. Today we are stuck in a post 9/11 airline industry where so many airline focus more about making money than the art of operating an airline, with beautiful airplanes of all kinds.

I for one like the new livery of China Eastern Airline, and logo I feel that it is more fresh, modern and more appealing, it gives off a luxury feeling of Eastern products. The new logo is also more modern as well as more appealing, it now represents something and that’s everyone at China Eastern and it’s SkyTeam partners.

Regardless of what everyone thinks, China Eastern livery and logo was very dated. Just as how Americans Airlines Bare Metal livery was outdated, they both look dated next to other airlines aircraft. Eastern planes felt like a cheap airline, when you look at them, it makes you don’t want to fly on that airline, and am sure that’s what SkyTeam told the head masters at China Eastern.

At the same time of liking this new livery I also see why many hates it, we are in that world now that post 9/11, higher fuel cost, most airlines just doesn’t put livery as a priority anymore, as many aviation enthusiast and spotters may hate this, in reality it’s a simple fact. Euro-White is standard mondernizeing an airline livery. LCC are the ones creating amazing and unique livery now look at Southwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines.

Virgin Austraila improves Business Class and Premium Economy Products

A week after Qantas unveiled their new business class product, Virgin Australia has followed in their footsteps and unveiled their new Business Class Suites set to be used on their flagship Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircrafts.

The new suites will be using Super Diamond seats, these are the same seats used by Air Canada for their Business Class, however they are customized for Virgin Australia aircrafts. Therefore this design is unique to Virgin Austraila Boeing 777 and Airbus A330.

Virgin Australia Business Class seating layout will be configured in a 1-2-1 arrangements on both the Boeing 777 and A330, giving each traveler easy access to the aisle, for the very first time.

Virgin’s Super Diamond Business Class Seats are manufactured by B/E Aerospace and design by Tangerine London and can be converted into a 180 degrees fully-flat bed with a 80inch width. However on the Airbus A330 Business Class, seating count will go from 24 seats to 20, providing a more spacious cabin for Business Class travelers.

Virgin Australia Chief Executive Officer John Borghetti spoke on the airline new products and its Virgin Vision 2017 Concept.              Mr Borghetti Said:

“Today marks a new era for our premium customer experience both domestically and internationally. We believe the sophisticated new suites will set a new standard in Business Class travel, not just in Australia but around the world”, “Our Virgin Vision to 2017 is to become Australia’s favourite airline group and today’s announcement is central to our strategy as it will see Virgin Australia deliver the best premium travel experience in Australia.” “We are committed to maintaining a competitive advantage in customer experience in order to ensure that Virgin Australia is the number one choice for premium travellers”, Mr Borghetti added.

For entertainment, Virgin Australia will be installing Panasonic EX2 In-Flight Entertainment System connect to a 16in touchscreen for Business Class only. Virgin Australia will also use Lufthansa BoardConnect WiFi Entertainment System to allow passengers in all class to be connected to the World Wide Web, and stream media to their mobile devices. Another great improvement made to Business Class is, Virgin has redesigned the Business Class bar, however removed the Premium Economy Bar, that’s won’t bum out Premium Economy Travelers.

With the removal of the Premium Economy Bar, Virgin Premium Economy travelers will love to flying on the flagship Boeing 777, because Virgin has increased premium economy seating pitch to 41 inches. However that means less seats in Premium Economy, seats will be reduced from 40 to only 24 seats, adding more legroom for travelers and providing a more comfortable quite ride for travelers traveling in Premium Economy.

Why the Premuim Economy Bar won’t be miss by travelers? Because the Business Class bar is so much more improved and Premuim Economy travelers has access to it. So not only bigger and less seats but also an awesome new bar. With the reduction of seats in Premium Economy, the Boeing 777 will now hold 339 travelers comfortable, that’s down from 361. Making the aircraft feel more premuim and adds exclusive to Premuim Economy travelers. The reduction also add range to the aircraft.

“Our intention here with premium economy is not to have it as an ‘economy plus’ product, but as a ‘business-lite’ product,” Borghetti also adds. “We’re trying to pitch the business class seat as a halfway house between Business and First, and premium economy as more of a halfway house between economy and business, but closer to business. Certainly all our research shows that will set us ahead of everyone else.”

The suites will roll out to Virgin Australia’s Airbus A330 fleet in early 2015 with the first aircraft expected to be in service by March and the complete refit of the fleet to be finalised by August.

The roll out of the new Business Class product to the Boeing 777 fleet will commence from November 2015 and be complete by early 2016.

Today, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia also announced a partnership between the two airlines calling it a “world first for frequent flyers” the partnership is allowing members of KrisFlyer and Velocity Frequent Flyer to convert their Miles and Points between both programmes for the first time and receive a number of “innovative” new benefits.

[TMC 24|7] Toyota Developing 3D Heads Up Display

BRONX | NEW YORK | Toyota Motor Corporation is developing new technologies such as 3D heads up display (HUD) for production in it’s future vehicles, from the next generation Prius to future Lexus and Scion vehicles.

Toyota is working with technicians from silicone valley to help develop their first 3D HUD technology. All work and testing will happend right here in the United States at Toyota’s InfoTechnology Center in San Francisco, California.

The new 3D HUD is being developed to help driver tackle everyday driving hazards face by drivers. The HUD will feature new technologies and display 3D information like voice guided Turn by Turn Navigation, that displays 3D arrows in green that are projected on to the windshield. Making the arrow shows up in the exact spot on the road, where the driver should be making his or her turn, although the green arrows are projected on windshield. The arrow will reposition it self once the vehicle gets closer to it’s turning position. This give the driver the exact spot on the road to make the correct turn. Which will help drivers drive safely.

Other function that’s being displayed are active vehicle’s, bike’s and prodestritions, that are mark out on the HUD with stickfigure like red dots for prodestritions, red lines for vehicle and two red dots for bikes and motorcycles. The 3D HUD will also display parking spot that your vehicle are able to fit in, this is displayed using green 3D cone that glows up to the sky. The normal functions such as speed, climate conditions and other vehicle information’s are displayed in white.

Toyota new 3D HUD technology will be probably the smartest HUD available will in the automotive industry once it’s release. One of the tech we are excited about is. Real time warning of traffic hazards. The vehicle warns you of bikes and vehicles that’s about to mash into you -that way you are able take actions right away.

Toyota states that the HUD technology is being developed by Toyota itself and that no special windshield overlays are needed in order to view the 3D HUD. Instead Toyota will be using three special sensors needed for the HUD. These sensors are:

  • Phased-array radar: Use to gather speed and position of objects such as vehicles, pedestrians, hazards near the vehicle.
  • Cameras: Used to reveal their shape and form.
  • Lidar (light detecting and ranging) gear: Used to accurately determine distances to intersections and objects the HUD will depict.

The HUD technology has been in the development phase for about two years now. Toyota is spending almost one million dollars an hour developing the technology and has not given any date as to when we should expect it’s million if not billion dollar tech In production vehicles.

BRONX, NEW YOEK | Emirates the worlds largest Airbus A380 operator has begun flying the super jumbo A380 aircraft between Dubai and Kuwait. EK 857 daily service between Dubai International and Kuwait International Airport  is the worlds shortest Airbus A380 service, the flight takes approximately 2 hour at maximum.
The Inaugural service begun July 16, A date that mark Emirates 25 years of operation into Kuwait.
