SMADE Sports (Oct. 29th 2014) TORONTO |  Raptors was able to hold off a late rally from the Atlanta Hawks to win their first game of the season; the raptors fans came with energy and many was watching the game from outside the area. The Raptors all around had a poor night shooting the ball; DeRozan was 4/16 Kyle Lowry 3/11 and  Amir Johnson 7/15; however they had an all around night and didn’t let down their fans; they share the ball and find the hot hand at the right time to pull off the win. DeRozan had 15 points and set career-highs with 11 rebounds and 6 steals, Lowry added 11 points and 10 assists, Amir Johnson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Jonas Valanciunas scored 17 points, and Terrence Ross had 13 for the Raptors. All five starters scored in double figures for the Raptors tonight in fact Seven Toronto players reached double figures in scoring. Showing Canada and the rest of the NBA why they had the best record in the preseason at 7 – 1 (W-L)

“We’re a team, we’re a complete team,” Lowry said. “Me and DeMar, we didn’t play as well offensively but we did other things to try to help the team win.”

The Atlanta Hawks continue to battle back all game but end up falling short; they of course was happy to have Al Horford back from knee injury, he was limited to only 29 minutes but played close to 32mins he grab 13 boards 12 points on 6/15 shooting and 3 assists. Kyle Korver, Jeff Teague and Mike Scott each led the team in scoring with 20 points for the Hawks, and Paul Millsap had 13 points and 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Big play came with 2:32 left in the 4th when Mike Scott and DeMarre Carroll hit Back-to-back 3-pointers capping off a 10-1 run to bring Atlanta within eight, 102-94, with only 2:30 left in the 4th quarter, Mike Scott then hit  another 3 with 1:27 left on the clock to cut the lead to four  points 103-99. The Hawks was able to cut Toronto once 19 point led into only 4, but that was as close as they got; the lead was just too much as Toronto was able to hit their free throws to seal the game.
